The inspiration
My latest work was inspired by a table I made using pieces of an old wooden staircase paired with left-over pieces of wooden flooring. The staircase pieces were not thick enough, but the wooden flooring was - combining the two was the solution and led to my first geometric design. My thoughts after finished the table: "this table deserves a matching vase". And so it began.
sneak peek of the process
Common denominators of my process are:
- Simple geometrics: flip, rotate, and/or mirror the wood.
- Precision in the design, alignment of stacks, and cuts is crucial.
- Stacks are glued using water-resistant glue.
- Insides are finished with epoxy - all designs can be used as a vase containing water for fresh flowers.
- Outsides are finished with sustainable Osmo wax for shine and color intensity.
